How tightly the ski's sidecut is curved. A tight radius wants to snap into quick, short turns with frequent edge engagement; a long radius favors fast, sweeping turns and needs more speed to bend into an arc.

The ski's width beneath the boot. Narrower is quicker edge-to-edge and more precise on hardpack; wider floats better in deep snow but takes more effort to drive onto edge.

How tapered the tip is. A pointier tip reduces edge contact near the nose, making the ski easier to pivot and less likely to catch an edge — common on freestyle/powder skis. A rounder tip keeps more edge in contact for grip.

How the tail is shaped, mirroring the tip. An elliptical, tapered tail releases turns easily and feels playful; a fuller, rounded tail adds support and energetic "pop" finishing a turn.

Where the boot sits relative to center. Directional (toward the tail) is more stable at speed and gives the tip more leverage to float in powder; symmetrical (centered) turns and lands equally well in both directions — more playful, but less stable fast.

The upward curve lifting the tip and/or tail off the snow. More rocker improves float in soft or variable snow and makes turns easier to start — at the cost of edge grip and precision on firm snow.

The arched, spring-loaded shape underfoot. More camber means more edge grip, stability, and energetic "pop" out of each turn on hardpack — but it's less forgiving in powder.

How much of the ski's length is rocker-dominated versus camber-dominated (camber always holds underfoot; rocker always takes over toward the tips). Biased toward camber means more grip and energy; biased toward rocker means more float and forgiveness.
